Welcome to Polymer Teaching Resources
This is one of the best polymer teaching resources in the UK; in fact it's the only one of its kind.
Here you will find resources about polymers and plastics. It is aimed at teachers. It is managed and run by people who work in plastics education, and plastics manufacture. The principal input to the site is from secondary school teachers of technology and science, Edinburgh Napier University, and the Scottish Plastics and Rubber Association who sponsor the site.
It has been set up to promote polymer education.
The main focus of the site is to promote three resources, but you will find many other resources here, I will leave you to explore the site for yourselves. The three main resources being promoted are:
This is a new site, the topics covered are a starting point, we would like to see it develop with your input, responding to the resources you what you would like have. Please do not hesitate to contact us via the contact forms you will find on most pages, or on the contact page. If you have any questions or comments please send them in we will respond.

Here's what teachers have said about these polymer teaching resources.
“I am returning to school with a renewed enthusiasm and a total change in my opinion with regards polymers and plastics.”
Ken Wilson, Lochaber High School, Fort William
“Plastics are complex and more importantly many of them are so very similar it is difficult to identify them. The Polymer Tours appeared to offer help with this problem and they did far more than I expected.”
Julian McDermott, King Alfred College, Wantage
“I found the speakers enlightening and entertaining and the practical approach toward the topic was both encouraging and supportive to the delegates.”
Andrew Morgan, Newcastle Upon Tyne
“I had been concerned that the course might be aimed at chemistry teachers and although I might find it interesting it would not benefit my Product Design classes, how wrong could I have been.”
Kirsty Blair, Hazlehead Academy, Aberdeen
“The blend of Scientists and Technology teachers has given me a greater understanding of the parts of the curriculum common to both courses.”
Tom Scoular, Airdrie Academy,
“I now have a clearer more comprehensive understanding of the important role that plastics play in society.”
Stuart Deering, Long Road College, Cambridge
“Handling clearly identified samples and using resins to make real products was a lesson in itself.”
Cathy Cattermole, Chemistry teacher, Reading.
“Our day in the labs enabled us to get hands on contact with a variety of processes that we had little or no experience of. Indeed it helped us to gain a better understanding of the processes involved on the factory tours on day 3.”
Rob Willbourn & Ian Morgan, Newbridge Comprehensive, Newport
“I now feel comfortable in my own knowledge of plastics to teach my students. The resources provided and contacts made proved invaluable,”
Vicki Helm, D & T leader, Bristol
“The lectures delivered during the course were very knowledgeable and covered a wide range in the area of polymers.”
Shakeel Rathmore, Sawtry Community College, Huntingdon
“The factory tours have given me an excellent starting point for organising school trips that will bring rather dry topics - mass production techniques, quality assurance and quality control to life.”
Ruth Steinmann, Dartford Tech. College, Kent
“I found the entire experience a very worthwhile investment in my time.”
Graham Almrott, Forest School, Horsham
